So Miami was great. We met with countless incredible DJs and made some cool connects to move MixRev back into the world of the DJ. So let it be said MIXREVOLUTION.COM IS BACK AND WE ARE HERE TO STAY!!! WORD TO BIG BIRD!!!!

So here are the first 3 videos I cut up from Last Week’s Footage. Enjoy and check out the new YouTube discovery I made. Dj Craze’s Bass Sessions LA was this past weekend. all in all good times were had by all those who came. We did some good interviews which should be up soon. My favorite sets of the evening would have to be by Treasure Fingers and Klever! Klever arrived in LA at midnight and got to the venue at 12:45 and spun an insane set.

Thanks to Danny from United for inviting us out and good look on the extra lights and SUBS. That BASS was insane! Check out my home videoness above!

Ok! So this is going to become a new weekly post for myself. I hope a few of our other contributors add to it too! I get hit up every week with new songs and mixes from Artist and DJs all over that may not always enter your radar. These are Indie/Underground/D.I.Y. dudes who I think deserve some spins at gigs or on mixtapes, that you won’t hear on the radio! These tracks will be cross-genre too! In the Major Leagues of Hip-Hop and Music itself, the City of Chicago could have been seen as League Champions. With the huge success of Mr. West’s third effort, Lupe’s excellent sophomore effort and the underground and blogs of the world constantly chatting about the vast talents coming from the Windy City. Look to 2008 to be even greater for the Chi, with a few huge events and talent that is ready to take on the world.

Last night I spent some time with three future Chicago prospects at Cinespace in LA. Look for the upcoming video of the night’s insanity brought to you courtesy of Million $$$ Mano, Hollywood Holt and Mic Terror. Mic gives up his true life’s passion. Holt discusses the mean streets and life of his Moped Gang. Then Mano gives up the secret to sustaining his lavish lifestyle and the future collabos he is brewing to change the RAP GAME!

In the meantime get a feel for some of my favorite new rappers in ’08 by visiting their myspace pages! My fellow DJs, forget the radio crap and start spinning some artist with a true love for the art because some of these Hip-Pop rappers ego’s are too big! Couldn’t really think of a title and when I send emails to people we work with I tend to start it with Yo! It’s a casualty of growing up in the nineties.

So I have to videos for you all to enjoy and they both are connect to the Internet famous hipster Sarah Morrison! She’s our girl and much thanks to her for hooking us up with so many wonderful people.

First is a collage of various video footage we have taken of ATL DJ, Le Castle Vania. We have been stalkin’…or wait…following this Disco Punk for a minute now. Last week we sent MixRev homie Reed Dailey to the monthly ATL event F&*k Yes! put on by said DJ. Reed said it was off the hook crazy. The live footage in this video is form there. Next up is a little video and awesome ditty that Sarah posted on the blog EatSkeet.com, a blog by LA DJ Skeet Skeet and his amigos. It’s from Canadian rapper Arabesque. I haven’t been able to get this tune out of my head since Sarah told me to check it out. I even downloaded his latest MixTape from EMusic.com. Check it out YO!!!!

Thanks for bearing with my rambling. last but not least, Indie Hip Hop greats, THE LIVING LEGENDS, are some cool dudes! They let a bunch of dudes they don’t know chill with them in their studio and video what goes on. Lucky.I.Am has the cutest little pit pup! Yes I said cute. Look out over the coming weeks for the interviews and footage. In a small documentary serious bout them! Peace in the Middle East!

So I know everybody and their grandma are all talking about how cool Guitar Hero is. Well I have fought temptation and decided not to buy it, for fear that I will lock myself up in the office playing it 24-7. I’m already having a tough time with COD 4. BUT WHAT IF THEY ACTUALLY MADE A DJ HERO GAME??!!? Witness below…

So I just stumble across the following news feed. I would like you to read it and then ponder, how some of the peer pressure in this industry can hurt others.

DJ AM Reveals Dark Past

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – DJ AM may be one of the hottest DJ’s in Hollywood, with an impressive list of starlet ex-girlfriends and the
deed to many of the towns hottest nightclubs.

However, just ten years ago, DJ AM was leading a very different life. The 33 year-old music man, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, has told the story of his past to Glamour magazine.

The ex-fiancé of Nicole Richie revealed that he was once so close to committing suicide he had a gun in his mouth.
AM said, “I went into my living room, reached into a cabinet above my TV and grabbed my gun, a loaded .22. I sat back on my heels, cocked it and put it into my mouth. I pulled the trigger. The gun didn’t go off. I thought, ‘Are you kidding me? I’m such an [expletive] failure I can’t even kill myself? I dropped the gun and broke down. That was the turning point in my life.”

Since the turning point at age 24, DJ AM has become one of the biggest entertainers in Hollywood, favored by celebrities and appearing at some of the hottest parties.

However, his priorities have changed.

The star continued, “I no longer needed a trophy girlfriend or drugs to feel good about myself. It’s been nine and a half years since I’ve had a drink or taken drugs. But every day I have to remind myself that no matter how much time I have behind me, I’m still a drug addict.”

“At any given moment, I’m five seconds away from walking up to someone, grabbing their drink out of their hand and downing it. And if I do that, within a week, tops, I’ll be smoking crack.”

AM is one of my favorites to catch when I am out in LA. He is probably one of the best at getting a party started and finished with whoever his audience is, leaving the club better off. While I do not know him personally, many who are acquainted with him, know that he is pretty open about all of this.

Still, there are many DJs out there who may be in a similar spot and not as open. This is a privileged job we get to do. Help make sure many can do it for years to come!

R.I.P. Evil Knievel! Man was true to himself and his fans!

We got the retail copy of the new Wu record sent to the office today! Nice! I am glad to see they are back and going to spend time with it this week. Let’s see if the drama is worth it!
