This is what it means to these individuals to have music in their life, to have someone that they could connect with and share a common bond with. Michael Jackson’s iconic influence transcends into Hip Hop, as demonstrated by arguably one of the greatest Hip Hop producers of all time, DJ Premier. This past Friday during DJ Premier’s weekly “Live From HeadQCourterz” show on Sirius, he brought forth a special tribute mix he put together for Michael Jackson. “With this mix, I wanted to do something a little different. Instead of giving you what I’d listen to before going out to party with my friends, I wanted to share my mind / body trip of traveling to play a show. I spend a lot of time alone in public places; in airports, hotels, and in cars and clubs with ever-new groups of strangers (who often by the end of the night become friends) before sharing my soul with hundreds or thousands of people. I find this to be both exhilarating and alienating.
