Remix Hotel Atlanta 2008

September 28th, 2008 | Category: Event Coverage, Mix Revolution TV

So this last past weekend the Mix Rev crew headed down to Atlanta to attend  Remix Hotel and check out some of the newest dj products, listen to some seminars and just check out the over all scene.  This years event was held over three days at the at the SAE music facility in down town. As we were driving down Peachtree road (by the way ever road in atlanta is called Peachtree road so look out).  We saw one of over favorite kilers Dj Klever and a slew of hipters/sneaker heads teenagers all swarming him for a picture so we knew we were close. After parking the car we walked around for a while til we found the exact entrance to Remix Hotel.

We signed in, took the elevator up to floor three and were instantly immersed in music and mayhem. Every where you looked there was something going on, seminars, lectures, and demos. But what we notice about this remix hotel was the fact that the theme was networking. You really got a sense of community amongst these ATaliens. After walking around a little and checking things out we went into the Pioneer room where low and behold we ran into our good friend Davey Dave who a dj and one of the big dawgs over at Pioneer. He along with a couple of the other guys from  Pioneer showed us the new Pioneer SVM-1000 dj mixer. What more can we say but sick. Imagine you have the already super powerful Pionner 800 mixer. Now add in the capability to have video mixing and editing. To say Pioneer is taking djing to whole new level with that mixer is an understatement.

After we kicked it with the pioneer guys we walked around a little more and headed into the Serato Room. Nothing new with regards to hardware from Rane. We did though get a chance to meet up with Atlanta’s own  Cristo and talk to him about the scene in Atlanta and his residency at Rob Wonders El bar. As well as chillin out to the tunes of Prince Presto.

We couldn’t help it, we had to show you the goods.

Remix Hotel Atlanta 2008 was a great event, we can’t wait to head down to Miami for Winter music conference and Remix Hotel Miami 2009.

How I spent my weekend! With DJ Craze of course!

February 19th, 2008 | Category: Concerts, Event Coverage, Mix Revolution TV, News

Dj Craze’s Bass Sessions LA was this past weekend. all in all good times were had by all those who came. We did some good interviews which should be up soon. My favorite sets of the evening would have to be by Treasure Fingers and Klever! Klever arrived in LA at midnight and got to the venue at 12:45 and spun an insane set.

Thanks to Danny from United for inviting us out and good look on the extra lights and SUBS. That BASS was insane! Check out my home videoness above!

How I spent my weekend! With Kanye of course!

February 11th, 2008 | Category: Event Coverage, Mix Revolution TV, News

Ok so I didn’t go to the Staples Center last night. Should have but I was too lazy to leave the house this weekend. But the above moment was the highlight of a beautifully peaceful weekend. The Grammy’s, in it’s 50th year, are always entertaining, not sure why there was so much classical representation. It was interesting to see Herbie Hancock win the Album of the Year Award. I hope he Rock’s It! Pun intended. Oh and Jerry Lee Lewis made me want to cry.

All in all though Kanye killed it, Daft Punk made the track a new original! What more can I say?!! Nothing!

Christmas is coming late!!!!

February 05th, 2008 | Category: Concerts, Music, News

So I have just moved to a new pad, 1 mile from beautiful Main St. Huntington Beach, CA. Ok enough rubbing in, now onto the post. So I have no internet yet, have to wait till Thursday and I have been slacking on my posts and my reader. I came across this old post from the Billionaire Boys Club/Ice Cream blog. It’s the first hip-hop tour I have been excited about in a while, (Rock the Bells doesn’t count, it’s a festival).

Also I am sure many of you have heard it but N3RD are up to the futuristicness again with their new joint, Everyone Nose! Listen to it HERE if you haven’t yet!

The Letter X.

February 01st, 2008 | Category: Concerts, Music, TurntableTHIS!!!

X is unique letter. There aren’t too many words that begin with X… may be a few names, but overall how often do you get to use a word that begins with the letter X? I personally use X’s alot because I’m always X-ing and O-ing my lovies, yes I’m ultra girly like that ppssshaaa! Moving along, in the world of DJ/Turntablism/Skratch when you think of X what do you think of??? THE X-Men, X-Ecutioners and all of the amazing DJs that through the years have been apart of the crew. Some of my favorite DJs come from this crew, I’ve been lucky enough to meet, interact and even interview a few of them. As much world wide fame as these men have they’ve always remained approachable, down to earth and humble. I cannot begin to tell you how into these DJs I am, I’m on that nerd status! You know the one where you have ringtones, and caller tunes from music these DJs have made, oooh man a password of mine is even a title from one of the X-ecutioner’s albums not even a short title too a super long one hahahaa.

Like everything else in life the X-ecutioners have seen their highs, rough patches and differences through the many years, members have come and gone, but they will always remain one of the greatest crews to ever get on the turntables. A new chapter in the X-ecutioners story has started. Last year, DJs Rob Swift, Total Eclipse and Precision came together to form a new group, Ill Insanity.

Ill Insanity

L-R: Precision, Rob Swift and Total Eclipse

These three DJs have come together to form Ill Insanity, and they’re more than just three turntablists who have won battles, they’re also party rockers, crowd movers, and innovators. Ill Insanity’s first album Ground Xero is set to drop on February 12, 2008. I was able to catch their debut NYC show last fall and let me tell you it’s fun. Fun because it’s not just 3 DJs skratching and beat juggling, doing a little trick here or there, it’s three amazing DJs tearing it up. Aside from doing group routines they also do solo routines and my favorite part the party rocking definitely had the crowd moving!

Guitar Center and Rane have come together to bring to a few lucky US Cities the Ill Insanity Ground Xero Tour! This is an ALL AGES FREE EVENT, so if you live in one of the cities they’re stopping at make sure to be there, bring a friend, a brother, sister, neice, nephew, cousin, neighbor’s kid!!
