When Reid Speed began spinning records in 1996, she first generated curiosity as one of few female DJs at the time. However, she quickly earned respect for her talent in the highly competitive NYC scene.  Since then she has done everything from releasing her debut mix CD on Resonance, to working with the likes of DJ Dara, DJ Seen, and DJ Swap.  She is now based in LA, where she manages Breakdown , an event showcasing Electro and Nu Skool breaks with Matt David and Josh David.  Here is Reid’s latest BBC mix.

We were looking over at Mike Chave video site and we saw this amazing video of JUST BLAZE giving a demo in logic 8 showing how he chops up sample. While everyone has their own way of doing things it is really interesting to see what the big dawgs do from time to time.

Beatportal user Tom Phillipson got in touch with us recently to highlight his video demo on YouTube which illustrates a Mod he built for his Novation 25SL Compact, which extended the controls of the MIDI keyboard to include his iPod Touch.

Tom used the TouchOSC app that allows you to send and receive Open Sound Control messages over a Wi-Fi network. Sweet.
