Photos From Girl TALK
Girl Talk is the stage name of musician Gregg Gillis (born October 26, 1981). Gillis, who lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has released four LPs on Illegal Art and EPs on 333 and 12 Apostles. He began making music while studying biomedical engineering at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He specializes in mashup style remixes, in which he uses often a dozen or more unauthorized samples from different songs to create a new song; The New York Times Magazine has called his music “a lawsuit waiting to happen.”[1], a criticism that Gillis has attributed to a mainstream media that wants “to create controversy where it doesn’t really exist,” citing fair use as a legal backbone for his sampling practices. In Saying that the Mix Rev Crew crashed one of his shoes in Atlanta a couple of Days ago. To say we loved it was an understatement. Granted this guy is not going to win a Grammy any time soon. But sometimes, who cares. He totally made us jump the whole time we were at the show and for that we thank you GT.

Mad Decent are about to finally drop the Paper Route Gangstaz mixtape entitled “Fear And Loathing in Hunts Vegas” (features production work from among others DJ Benzi) next week (it’s almost been a year in the making and alot of us have been waiting anxiously). Preorder it here!
To promote this smashing release they put together a mixtape sampler (which we actually posted back in March) along with two Diplo remixes, one of the track “Don’t Go” (featuring our favorite DC rapper Wale) and the other one is his remix of the single “Bama Gettin’ Money” + they’re giving away the original version of “Bama Gettin Money” as free download via iTunes (this week only so grab it quick). first, Bama Gettin Money is available FREE on iTunes this week as a discovery download. Go get the track and leave us some comments to balance out all the open minded fools who a) dont have time to download the song but DO have time to leave a one star comment or b) think this is a song about Barack Obama. Thats the clean version, if you want the dirty and acapella you can also pick that up here.
