Behind the Decks with Justice in Rio
A few months ao you might of remembered that we posted DAFT PUNK’s pyramid pictures showcasing their live gear set up. Well thanks to the people over at Create Digital Music and the amazing eye of photographer Henrique Kurtz for these pictures of live set up.
3 x Jazzmutant Lemur (THREE LEMURS. It’s good to be rich, I guess.)
2 x MacBook Pro (one is probably backup)
1 x Korg MicroKorg
1 x Korg ZERO8 Live Control
1 x Pioneer DJM800
Software: Ableton Live
Get up close and personal with the laptop rig itself. Okay, you may not be able to afford three Lemurs, but this wouldn’t be hard to scale to other setups. And there’s plenty here to make a “live PA” performance really a performance.
1 commentHeard of FLUD?
You will soon. As I have heard of these guys a couple months ago, I finally decided to give them a little recognition that they deserve. Watches STRICTLY for the DJS!!! Checkout some of their dope designs that a DJ could only dream of for Xmas. They have two watches in particular that I like, the Tableturns and the 33 1/3. Checkout the pics or buy one here… http://www.fludwatches.com/

The DMC DJ Championship started at DMC’s first DJ Convention in London in 1985. A young Londoner called Roger Johnston won the first event which wasn’t recorded and hardly featured a scratch! The venue was The Hippodrome and at the time was London’s premier and largest club.
It took America’s DJ Cheese in 1986 to bring the best out of the turntables by scratching his way to DMC’s first ever World Title. An unhappy runner-up, Holland’s Orlando Voorn grabbed the mic from the events MC and founder Tony Prince and bellowed the immortal word’s “What is this, a Mixing Competition or a Scratching Competition?”
By the following year, turntable tricks started to establish themselves with the emergence of props, body tricks and a variety of scratching techniques. The rest is history.
This years event was no different, the competition was fierce but a winner still needed to be crowned.
